What is Ashmans Supersites?

Ashmans Supersites is a freelance business owned and operated from home by local Eaglehawk Resident Ashley Baker and has been operating since November 2007 and it specialises in Website Design and Logo Design for Small Businesses, Community Groups and Individuals.

Compared to some Website Designers who are more into designing websites using advanced website design technology rather than designing a website that is easy to navigate, understand & maintain.

Ashmans Supersites designs all websites & logos using the keep it simple philosophy of design.

By operating this way, Ashmans Supersites can keep the customer happy during and after all phases of the design as well as being able to keep all customers informed on all aspects of the project without confusing the customer with confusing terminology. In the end the final product will be something that is visually, physically and mentally outstanding to the customer and the target audience.

How Ashmans Supersites Began

Ashmans Supersites began it's operation in November 2007, but the idea for Ashmans Supersites really began in 2006 while I was studying Certificate IV in Multimedia at Bendigo Regional Institute of Tafe when one of my lecturers who of course knew how much I loved Website Design suggested to me that I start my own business in Website Design.

I knew nothing about running or even starting a new business and eventually I was directed to The New Enterprise Incentive Scheme (NEIS) which helps new business ideas become New Businesses by offering financial support and business mentoring for their first year of operation.

In 2007 I started the 5 Week Pre-NEIS Training course at The Australian Business Development Centre but within 3 Weeks of the Training I was forced to withdraw from the course due to health reasons but that never stopped me from achieving my goals in starting my business because when my health was back to normal I returned to The Australian Business Development Centre in Mid 2007 and I re-attempted the Training course and this time I completed the course which led to my business becoming operational by November 2007.

The name Ashmans Supersites was a suggestion to me from a good friend of mine when I was unsure about what to call my business. I always wanted to have the name Ashman in the business name but I didn't want to have a generic name like "Ashmans Web Design" or "Ashmans Websites".

After much deliberation with my business name and after many names later, Ashmans Supersites was chosen.

Experience

I first gained an interest in Website Design in early 2005 when I designed a Website for Eaglehawk Community House while studying Certificate IV in Information Technology (Multimedia) at Bendigo Regional Institute of Tafe which was later entered into the Central Victorian E-Commerce Association Website Design Competition where my Website gained 2 award wins.

I then moved on to design the Website for Eaglehawk Heritage Society where I earned yet another award at The Website Design Competition of that same year.

Next on my agenda was a website for Eaglehawk Neigthbourhood Renewal's Resident Action Group known as Launching Pad where after it's completion in Mid 2006 I entered for the final time the Website Design Competition which earned me 2 more award wins.

After retiring from website design competitions, I have since completed projects for a local Video Production and Multimedia Design Business Called Rabb Productions and an International Construction Company called International Construction & Engineering Services which is based in Kazakhstan. I am currently working on revamping my earlier websites Eaglehawk Community House and Launching Pad in addition to another project with Long Gully Neighbourhood House.
